Menta + Marta Movidas

This is the second and final session of Sounds in the Courtyard, where you’ll be able to discover new bands that are making a name for themselves. This time, the session will feature Menta's despair, nihilism and raw, unfiltered love, as well as Marta Movidas’ mix of traditional pop and academic music from centuries gone by:

Menta is a group that emerged at the height of the pandemic. Meji (vocals), Nico Rubio and Rodrigo Godoy (guitar), Lucas Sierra (bass), and Pedro del Pozo (drums) released their first EP in June 2020 and their songs and Meji's voice instantly took listeners by surprise. She's an utterly unique singer who bubbles over with charisma. Her blunt, no-frills vocal register is deep and raw, seeming closer to those of punk or urban rock.

Marta Movidas is the artistic name of Marta España, who turns each of her songs into a piece of ultrapop with a sound that draws on everything from electropop to 1960s folk pop to J-pop and rock. Her latest album, Os castigaré, is a veritable sound explosion featuring melodies and sounds as vibrant as they are addictive, and lyrics that range from bitter to sweet.
