bailaora con traje y mantón con flecos rojos

“Just like you, I don’t speak when I have something to say / I drink when I’m not thirsty (…) / Just like you, I spin a web of lies, / I make coarse sandpaper of honesty.” Eva Yerbabuena opens her latest show – the 17th since forming her own company in 1998 – with the words of a poem. Touring stages all over the world, her company boasts a long list of awards, including the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts (2017), the National Dance Award (2001) and ten Max Awards.

The Granada-born choreographer premieres the show Al igual que tú in Madrid, in an attempt to reflect upon the past and recover experiences and personal spaces. Together with tarantas, granaínas, abandolaos, soleás, classical music, and even Chico Buarque, Eva Yerbabuena brings twelve artists to the stage in a production that evokes great waves of nostalgia for the houses in which she has lived.

A show in which Yerbabuena once again demonstrates a dance style that goes against conventional styles, its theatrical element is the result of the collaboration with writer and stage director Alfonso Zurro, narrated by Maica Barroso.
