Sonidos en el Patio

Las Petunias + Monteperdido + vatocholo + Morreo

Sounds in the Courtyard is back! This initiative, one of the Festival’s most well-established events, brings new bands and artists to the Central Courtyard of the Condeduque Centre. Lasting three hours or more and appealing to audiences of different ages, these concerts provide a great opportunity to showcase the vitality and effervescence of all the different styles that make up Madrid's music scene. A celebration of new sounds - everyone’s welcome!

With such a brazen name - it means ‘snogging’ in Spanish - Morreo, i.e. Germán and Joseca, just have to be bold and brassy. Two Andalusians who have set up shop in Madrid and turned their love of luminous melodies, sixties pop and seventies psychedelia into their main hallmark. The band’s live show is awash in electronic pop, samples, electronic covers of their own tunes and crazy Italo disco-style mashups.

Born in Denmark, and raised between Guadalajara and Madrid, Andrés Pardo (vatocholo) has managed to create his very own sound in which Mexican corrido blends with other musical styles such as hip-hop, rock, pop, metal and soul.

Unlike other hardcore bands, Monteperdido is known for the musicality of their songs, veritable pop anthems that soar on the back of relentless waves of guitars. The Madrid quintet is here to present Physical Damage (Daño físico), a cathartic album that takes frustration, violence and truth and wraps them up in guitars and pop melodies.

Bringing the night to a close are Las Petunias, one of our country’s most promising new pop bands. Thanks to gigs in such cities as Valencia, Barcelona and Jerez, they are slowly but surely making their way on the national scene. Ably aided and abetted by Ternura they remain faithful to their DIY style.
