After touring Madrid’s night scene for an entire decade with her postmodern cuplé project DE LA PURÍSSIMA, the actress, composer, art historian, singer, violin player, and writer Julia de Castro presents her first solo album: La Historiadora. She began recording this transitional project in 2016 in Tucson (Arizona), and continued in Rome before finishing it in Mexico City in 2019.

La Historiadora makes reference not only to the artist’s educational background in history of art, but also to her ability to recount significant events through music. Julia says that before being written down, stories were sung in order to be committed to memory. Now, at the Veranos de la Villa festival, she will present a memento of four years of constant movement in the form of an eclectic album in an open-minded combination of genres. Julia coasts along an open sea of music styles; she sails forth freely without losing sight of her characteristically instinctive lyrics, in a show that draws on her daring aesthetics.
