Like architects who use a building’s materials to construct another that retains the same essence but appears much more modern and advanced, a new generation of artists has revived regional folk music, fusing it with ultra-modern electronica. With this trait in common, they create and alter sounds from their own regions and build bridges to the future. Tonight, we invite you to enjoy two of the most interesting Spanish folktronica artists who began their music careers in Madrid.
The night will open with Le Parody, the musical alter ego of Sole Parody, a singer and composer from southern Spain whose songs combine dark pop, invented folklore and electronica. Next up, revisiting sounds from northern latitudes, is Baiuca, a band led by Alejandro Guillán in which he successfully combines the most advanced and innovative elements of electronic music with the wildest, purest roots of his homeland Galicia. Both acts will present new songs with a form patterned after electronic and club music, but underpinned by elements of folk.
