The second evening in the Conde Duque Circus programme will feature a double bill that will open with emerging artists Patfield & Triguero, who will present Gibbon, the first circus show ever nominated in the dance category at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show revolves around achieving success while concealing failure, a premise that serves as the starting point for a surreal and charming feast of choreographed juggling, with a sizeable dose of humour and a touch of the absurd. Gibbon questions the tradition of dance, extending the realm of choreography to flying objects and capturing the tension between defying gravity and the interaction of dancing bodies, combining the inevitable acceleration of a falling object with the slow movement of interlaced arms and hands.
Next, Puntocero Company will perform Y ahora qué?, a show featuring a house built with 910 metres of rope, as well as two circus performers and a painter over 60 years old. Through physical theatre and circus acts, these women grapple with various issues: the hectic pace of modern life, the desire to be a mother, “What will they say?” worries, and getting old. Surreal humour, a touch of poetry and hope, a trapeze, live painting and incredible choreography along a façade made of thin cotton ropes are the main ingredients in this exciting show.
