Tenmei – Destiny
YAMATO Drummers (The Drums of Japan)
Formed by dozens of musicians who have performed in more than 54 countries since it was first created in 1993, this group has travelled all the way to Madrid from the beautiful prefecture of Nara in Japan. Since 1993, in the almost 4,000 performances they have put on, the YAMATO Drummers (The Drums of Japan) have shown their immense originality and innovation with the wadaiko, the traditional Japanese drum. The epitome of the Japanese spirit, the wadaiko produces a roaring sound that will sweep you off to new and exciting adventures.
They begin the show they are bringing to Madrid, Tenmei (Destiny in Japanese), by beating on a Japanese taiko drum carved from a 400-year-old tree. Their bodies sway as they beat the drum with everything they have in their souls, creating a powerful rush of energy. Their live performances are so intense that they make their audiences’ bodies leap and their hearts race faster. The audience is overwhelmed by the rhythm of the music, as their bodies rise in sync with the powerful sounds emanating from the forty taiko drums on stage.
