ROBOTIZZATI. Experimentos de Moda italiana

ROBOTIZZATI. Experimentos de Moda italiana

Based on Neil Armstrong's spacesuit, which is somehow reminiscent of the giant robots of the 1980s that were manned by an operator inside of them (like Mazinger Z or Transformers), Robotizzati: Italian Fashion Experiments, organised in Madrid by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid, looks at how robots have influenced Italian fashion and celebrates the close ties between science, technology and creativity.

Curated by Stefano Dominella, this Madrid exhibition was designed by Francesco Florio and features art direction by Guillermo Mariotto. It brings together technology, fashion and robots to show how they permeate culture and fashion. It will also exhibit one of the most important chogokin collections (original metal robots) for the first time, on loan from Italian collector Roberto Pesucci.

Visitors will be able to enjoy clothes that “come to life”, high-tech mannequins and, of course, a profusion of robots. Iconic garments by the top names in Italian fashion (Moschino, Prada, Ferrè, Gattinoni and many others) come together in an interplay of suggestions, references and transformations in which the robot becomes a sort of contemporary divinity.

From July 8 to August 28, Tuesday to Friday, from 10am to 8pm. Saturdays and Sundays, from 12pm to 8pm.
