Veranos de la Villa 2023 graphic campaign

cartel veranos de la villa, piscina infinita, gente dentro con flotadores gigantes y colchonetas, skyline de Madrid

The poster that illustrates each year’s Verano de la Villa serves to pay tribute to Madrid and the summer in the capital. It’s also a unique opportunity to get to know the artists who use their art to embody the festival's spirit. In this edition, the artist chosen to encapsulate Veranos de la Villa in a single image is the multidisciplinary artist Amanda Portillo (Madrid, 1988), who has collaborated, among others, with the designer María Escoté and Nike, for whom she has created prints and illustrations.

For the Veranos de la Villa poster, Portillo, who claims to have drawn inspiration from her own experience, has conjured an infinity pool inspired by those that populate the rooftops of hotels in the city centre, from which we can enjoy the Madrid sky, together with celestial steps that allude to the popular saying  De Madrid al cielo (From Madrid to heaven). The characters that appear in the poster reflect the festive air of summer in Madrid, representing the kaleidoscopic leisure activities on offer during the summer period, especially within the festival programme. And all of this, in tones that represent a city where night falls and it starts to cool down. A poster that carries us to the sky of Madrid.
